Lots of updates!! Today Gianna is 2 months old, and she is thriving!! She now weighs 8 pounds 13 ounces!! and is 22 inches long!! WOW! She has doubled her weight since birth. We could not believe this when we went to the doctors last week for her weight check and first series of shots. Jarrid and I were guessing 7 pounds 10 ounces, because that would be a weight gain of a little over an ounce a day but she showed us she could do more!! The doctor was very happy with this progress, and asked us to keep supplementing every other feeding for 2 more months, and continue the iron dose she receives until one year. I cant believe how far she has come in these 8 weeks she is an amazing little person. Some of her new interests are, "studying" our faces, and grabbing at her toys. She loves to be on her back, especially on our big bed and reach for toys and stare at the lights. She is also starting to give us little smiles that seem more reactionary rather than just "gas grins", we have not received a full giggle or smile yet, but we are close I think. She is a bit ticklish and when you tickle her feet or just under her arms she grins and squints. Also, she is really trying hold her head up, we are seeing a lot more strength during her tummy time. She also seems to enjoy music. I put songs on my laptop for her to listen to when she is awake and she really seems to like it, she also likes the noise of the TV. Actually all noises pretty much make her happy. We are adding on to our house, and the banging and chaos does not bother her one bit. Maybe all this reminds her of her time in the NICU where there were lots of noises and lights and it just feels right. Well, Gianna truly is changing every day and we feel so lucky to have watched her evolution so far from preemie to newborn and cant wait to see what lies ahead!
