We have had a very busy 2 weeks. Jarrid and I celebrated our 29th Birthdays last week on May 12th and 13th. We just had dinner at home and ice cream cake from Coldstones to celebrate, pretty low key, but still fun! On Thursday night I went down to San Francisco to celebrate my birthday with friends, Sara, Katie, Jena and Adrian made the night truly special. We dined at Beretta in the Mission, www.berettasf.com, it was a fun spot with classic cocktails and good food to share. Thank you again for making my birthday so memorable.
The rest of the weekend was far less jovial as we attended the funeral services Friday and Saturday for Jarrid's cousin, Jake Velloza, who was tragically killed in Iraq on May 2nd. He was laid to rest with full military honors on Saturday, with over 600 people attending to pay their respects. It was a beautiful service that truly represented Jake. He will be remembered as a hero, a friend, a son, and loved one to so many. http://www.ktvu.com/video/19482940/index.html.
On a lighter note, we have some recent photos here of the house. We have walls!! This week the sheet rock went up and was textured. It is so exciting to see it all coming together.
Also, these have been the last two weeks with my Canine Companion Yvette. I have been raising Yvette since she was 7 weeks old, and now she is 18 months old and ready for advanced training. She will turn in to CCI next weekend where she will be assessed for a little over a month to see if she would make a good working companion for a disabled child or adult. CCI is a wonderful organization, check them out: www.caninecompanions.org
It has been such a rewarding program to be a part of and I know that I will continue this service throughout my life!!
